Activision Games

My impression is that Activision was the most prolific third-party producer of games for the Atari VCS / 2600. If memory serves, they were also the first. Overall, they were probably the best, too. After all, they're the only company I know of that's still around today - one of the behemoths of the gaming software industry.

I remember how strange it seemed to play a game that wasn't by Atari or Sears. And that Dragster (was it the first one) sure seemed strange. I always did like the rainbow effect they put in their logos. When they put their mind to it, they also made some mean Intellivision games, too.

Although I still think of Demon Attack as one of the very best Atari VCS games, and better than the Activision games I've played, I'd say that Activision had better consistency than Imagic for the Atari.

And, of course, perhaps Activision's most important contribution to classic game collecting - Actiplaque!!
